Every question is here because the answer changes how the subject looks — a quotation people misuse, a number that means something other than it appears to, a disagreement between serious historians, a fact that stops you.

Each answer comes with the point — what you should be left with — and the source it rests on, so you can check us. Questions that only tested recall of a date were deliberately removed.
