Brigham Young was sealed or married to fifty-five women. Most of them are remembered only as a number in his household.

This site gives each of them her own page: her dates, her family, the phase of his life she was married in, her life as far as the record carries it, and her own words wherever they survive.

A great deal has been written about these women, by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, Jill Mulvay Derr, Maureen Ursenbach Beecher, Kathryn Daynes, Carol Cornwall Madsen and others. What does not exist is a single work treating all fifty-five together, one chapter each. The only comprehensive published list is a table made in 1987.

Every figure here is traceable to a named published source, and where the sources disagree both readings are shown. Nothing is invented to fill a gap: where the record is silent, the page says so.

This is a prototype. The biographies were drafted by AI from published sources and have not yet been checked by a historian.
